I have the same problem girlie! My parents are divorced, my husband's are together, but they live over 2 hours away from us. Thanksgiving has luckily been easy for us, I've never spent it with my dad (he spends it with his new wife's side,) so I'm always with my mom. And I hear you with that too. It's just my mom, I don't want her to be alone for the holiday. My hubby's parents don't celebrate Tgiving, but he plays in an alumni basketball tournament so we spend Fri-Sun with them. So it evens out. Xmas is hard. Growing up, my dad always had custody on xmas eve, mom on xmas day. We've kept that up, but now we spend the day before xmas eve with hubby's fam, get up early to go to my dad's, and are back to my mom's by midnight. Throw in 4 other extended family xmas (no joke..) and it's a LOT to handle!

The holidays can be quite rough for divorcee kids. And I know it will just get harder down the road when we add our kids to the mix. I can tolerate 7 christmases, but I don't want my kids to. I'm with you on this one :)

^Sorry so long! Happy Turkey day!

My parents are still together, but Mychael's parents are divorced. His Mom lives in Tennessee and we live in Texas so we haven't spent any holidays with her. This year we came to Oklahoma to spend Thanksgiving with his Grandma who isn't doing very well and his aunt + uncle plus a couple cousins he hasn't seen in a long time. Its my first holiday ever away from my parents, but thank goodness for phones and texting. :) We spend Christmas Eve with his Dad and StepMom and Christmas Day with my parents. :)

I don't shop on Black Friday, I internet shop most of the time. The deals are just as good, if not better on most items I look to buy. :) I don't do well with crazy shoppers ;)

I just love your blog. So glad to be following now! I posted something about this exact same situation with families. My husbands parents are divorced. Thank god mine are still together... I don't know how you do it with 4 families!! Anyway, we kind of just cross our fingers each holiday that whatever we choose to do won't piss anyone off. But it usually does. This Thanksgiving, we were at my parents house because my grandfather is very sick with pancreatic cancer, and so we thought it would be the right thing to do. Christmas is a lot crazier because we do try and see every family. I don't think there's a right answer to this question. Either way, someone is not happy with your choice. For us, the challenge is to just stay strong as a couple, and do what we both want to do without letting other people tell us what to do!! =)

xo, Karla
