disclaimer: i do not think i am fat, this is not me preaching that i need to lose weight. I have found something that works for ME, and i am sharing what i did to lose some excess weight.. i am by no means a dietician/nutritionist/doctor. i do not take any responsibility for hunger pains ;) losing weight isn't the easiest thing, you need determination and consistency. and i hope this helps anyone who wants to lose any weight.
I mentioned before that i lost almost 10 lbs without even having to go to the gym, even better i lost it within a month. yep. how? whats my secret? whats the magic pill? am i even eating? you betcha.
and there was no magic diet pill, there was no crazy HCG diet [which i have tried before, not worth it], keep reading on and ill show you how i lost it =]
i took a good, long look at what i ate throughout the day. I am a healthy food eater but i was sure i could change somethings somewhere. I liked the occasional cookie, or the
Did i cut that all out? NOPE.
Did i cut down the portions? yep. instead of three reeses, i may have one. and if i eat a reeses that means NO SOUR PATCH KIDS. normally i choose the latter and would rather have SPK over Reeses; and now that the candy drawer at my work is empty from all the leftover halloween candy i dont have the chocolate tempation. #thankgoodness. and i have a bowl of ice cream maybe twice a week.
but the two most important parts of this "life-style change" is
- packing my lunch
- no carbs for dinner!
and drinking a ton more water!
[i bring little crystal light packages and throw half of one in a water bottle for a little extra flavor]
i pack my lunch with these similar things throughout the week and dont get anything extra when im at work:
- protein [turkey normally]
- raspberries/strawberries [one or the other]
- honey roasted peanuts [half the serving recommended]
- cucumbers/jalepenos [both, or just cucumbers. cucumbers are super low cal]
- i take a pack of 90 cal. pretzels and divide it between 2 lunches.
- carrots/hummus [i add hot sauce to the hummus also, and bring a good amount of carrots]
and then ill have almonds on hand for a snack in the morning if needed and then an apple for an afternoon snack if needed.
i also take vitamins to help with the nutrients i lose with being lactose intolerant and i never thought i would say this but...being lactose intolerant has helped me lose weight also. i cant have so many things so it helps with temptations.
Now before you go and get all upset that the carbs are limited, this girl [points to self] needs carbs, i am a bread lover. i could eat soft bread with ANY meal. but my hips are not liking it so much. I used to think that i had to have a carb with every meal, i needed to have that bread to be the "boat" for my turkey, then i realized i ate more because i thought i HAD too. but i didnt. one day i forgot the bread and i was still full till dinner and thats when i realized i dont NEED it.
i will break down a typical day of what i eat just so you can see that i still eat carbs.
breakfast: whole wheat bread with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, and 1 tablespoon of marshmallow cream; banana.
lunch: see above.
dinner: protein [chicken, fish, meat , eggs] with vegetables. and a small amount of carbs if i really need it. example: i made spaghetti for my family and i made an acorn squash that needed to be used. i cubed the acorn squash when it was done cooking and then poured sauce over it, when i looked at it i was sad that i didnt have any noodles so i grabbed a fork full and put it in with the acorn squash and mixed. i was totally sufficient with that. [about 1/4 cup of noodles].
i also like to have an adult beverage once in a while in the form of beer; now i can handle my own and can down a few without feeling a thing [not always a good thing]; so i used to drink maybe 2 or 3 whenever i did drink, now i just have 1. if that. sometimes i drink 3/4 and dump it. i have also discovered lower cal drinks too.
this is all i have done.
easy right?
need help tracking calories? i have found that in my opinion, myfitnesspal.com helped me.
now that i have continued to lose weight i have added in some simple workouts to keep the process of losing going. and once i am healthy [chest congestion/sore throat] i tend to kick up the workouts to more intense so i can start toning.
i hope this has helped anyone who has been wanting to lose weight or kick start that new years resolution!
december is upon us and it will go quickly..start now =]
next week: some fun workouts that dont seem like work outs!

I think all of this is very reasonable and great tips! You looked fab anyway, I can't imagine you losing 10 lbs. When I lost a lot of weight my senior year of college it's because I cut back on my carbs like woah. THat seriously helps soooooo much!
I love hearing peoples fitness/health success stories! So many of us can just make tiny changes and get big results- it only takes a little willpower and a commitment.
Very similar to Weight Watchers! Good job girl!
These are great weight loss tips! I've found that myfitnesspal helps out a lot as well. Thanks for sharing!

Dang girl!! Thats awesome!! Portion control was the key to my weight loss too!
Great job! I've been doing some calorie counting too. I stopped for Thanksgiving weekend and then I got sick with a respiratory thing on Monday. No one likes to diet when they're sick! But I've got to get back on it. Thanks for the inspiration!
that sounds awesome!! I'm trying to lose a few as well but its hard loving carbs & hating veggies!! I'm going to borrow some of your tips! :)

It's amazing the changes that happen in your body when all you do is eat the proper portion sizes. I try to avoid carbs at dinner, but have them for breakfast (same as yours - marshmallow cream) and lunch (usually in the form of brown rice cakes with my tuna). I am still scared of the ice cream because in our house it becomes a routine very quickly ;)
This is great! I've been needing a few good tips to get going, and am about to move which I think will help jump start a ton of different resolutions like this one!
Thanks for the tips dear! love your blog!! :)
What a great idea! I will have to try this!
